Steele, who began the working day two strokes again, shot a three-under 69 in the final spherical to reach fifteen-under and declare a two-stroke victory about fellow American Tony Finau in the PGA Tour’s time-opener.
“(There) was a brutal wind nowadays,” Steele explained to reporters soon after sealing the get with birdies on the sixteenth and 18th holes.
“Lots of holes into the wind, tons of awkward photographs.”
Overnight leader Tyler Duncan, enjoying in just his second PGA Tour event, faded with bogeys on his initial three holes and finished four again at 11-under soon after a seventy five.
Finau eagled the par-5 fifth but finally faded with a double bogey on the 14th.
A birdie on the final hole secured him outright second.
Phil Mickelson shot a 70 to finish in a tie for 3rd with Chesson Hadley at twelve-under.
“I had a fantastic time nowadays,” Mickelson explained. “It was enjoyable to be in the blend, it was enjoyable to have a likelihood.
“It was pretty complicated conditions. I appreciate that obstacle. This study course performed thoroughly various with the organization greens and the wind and some of the significant pin placements were being tricky to get to.”
